eBay selling fees calculator

Selling fees are the lines that hit when an item sells - not insertion fees after free allotments, and not a vibe percent. This page stacks final value fee and per-order fee on the total sale, with room for promoted listings if you use them. Same engine as the main eBay fee calculator, angled for the selling-fees search. Override Hub rates when your Store discount differs.

When to use — and when not to

When to use

Building a simple selling-fees cheat sheet for a weekend booth; checking whether promoted listings still leave room; teaching why free shipping is not free after FVF.

When not to

You only want the FVF story without the full stack → ebay-final-value-fee-calculator. Need take-home after cost → ebay-profit-calculator.

Assumptions

US business seller defaults; FVF on item + buyer shipping; per-order $0.30/$0.40; promoted % optional; rates as of table date.

Worked examples

$35 item + $6 shipping, 13.6%, no ads

FVF on $41 ≈ $5.58 + $0.40 → selling fees ≈ $5.98

Same sale with 8% promoted

Adds ≈ $3.28 promoted on the $41 base

Promoted is optional - leave 0 for organic.

How it calculates

selling_fees = fvf + per_order + promoted(+ intl)
payout_before_cost = total_sale − selling_fees

Stack the fee lines, then read payout (and profit when costs are entered).

  1. Enter the sale price and any buyer-paid shipping that applies.
  2. Confirm or override the rate defaults for your case.
  3. Add ads, storage, or costs only when they apply.
  4. Read the fee stack - estimate only, not the marketplace payout screen.

Common traps

  • Insertion fees are not the main path here.
  • Promoted listings are not free marketing in this stack.
  • Category overrides beat the most-categories default.

FAQ

On a sold order, usually final value fee plus the managed-payments per-order fee, and promoted listings if that sale was attributed. Insertion fees after free allotments are not the main path on this page.
