eBay final value fee calculator

Final value fee is the percentage bite. Per-order fee is the fixed bite. This page is for people who already know the vocabulary and want the tier math — including the drop to 2.35% above the high-value threshold on most categories — without a full P&L form.

When to use — and when not to

When to use

High-ticket watches, guitars, or equipment where the tier kink matters; comparing category rates before you pick a leaf category.

When not to

Full take-home with cost of goods — use the eBay profit calculator. Casual “how much does eBay take” wording — the main fee calculator is friendlier.

Assumptions

User picks a rate preset (most categories 13.6%, etc.) or types a custom %. Threshold default $7,500 then 2.35% on the remainder. Per-order fee still applied.

Worked examples

$100 most categories

FVF $13.60 + $0.40 = $14.00

$8,000 most categories

13.6% on $7,500 + 2.35% on $500 ≈ $1,031.75 FVF before per-order

Confirm threshold for your Store tier in Hub.

How it calculates

fvf = min(total, threshold) × high_rate + max(total − threshold, 0) × low_rate
total_core_fees = fvf + per_order

Stack the fee lines, then read payout (and profit when costs are entered).

  1. Enter total sale (item + buyer shipping).
  2. Set or override the FVF percent.
  3. Read tiered FVF plus per-order on the stack.

Common traps

  • Wrong leaf category can change the rate more than any calculator tweak.
  • Store vs non-Store tables differ.
  • Per-order fee is not FVF but still leaves with every order.
  • International fee is separate if you enable it.

FAQ

The percentage commission eBay charges on the total sale when an item sells — usually item price plus shipping the buyer paid. Most US business categories sit near 13.6% up to a high-value threshold, then a lower tier. Override when your Hub rate differs.
